Sellita SW200-2 Power+: 65-hour power reserve and numerous technical innovations
The Sellita SW200 has been one of the most popular Swiss automatic movements for many years. As a reliable alternative to the ETA 2824-2, it has earned an excellent reputation for its robustness, precision, and outstanding serviceability, and is used by numerous renowned watch manufacturers.
With the new Sellita SW200-2 Power+, Sellita is now introducing the most significant advancement in this movement family since its launch. The goal was not only to achieve a longer power reserve, but also to carry out a comprehensive technical overhaul of the entire movement.
At Heinrich Watches, the new Sellita SW200-2 Power+ is being used for the first time in the new Helicoprion MKII with a Tigereisen dial. This model thus combines one of the most extraordinary natural stone dials in our collection with the latest generation of one of the most trusted Swiss automatic movements.

65 hours of power reserve—a real added value in everyday life
The most obvious improvement in the new caliber is its significantly longer power reserve.
While the previous SW200-1 runs for about 38 to 41 hours, depending on the model, the new SW200-2 Power+ lasts up to 65 hours.
In everyday life, this translates to a noticeable increase in convenience. If you take off your watch on Friday evening, you’ll often find it still running on Monday morning. Less need for adjustments, more practicality for everyday use.
It is noteworthy that Sellita achieved this improvement without reducing the balance wheel frequency. The movement continues to operate at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), offering the same smooth second hand movement as well as the well-known advantages in terms of rate stability and precision.
Much more than just a stronger tension spring
At first glance, the SW200-2 looks almost identical to its predecessor.
Inside, however, the movement has undergone a profound redesign. Sellita itself refers to it as a "major evolution. " The goal was to significantly increase energy efficiency while retaining the proven characteristics of the SW200.
Among the most important technical innovations are:
-
Newly designed barrel with a new mainspring
-
Optimized gear train with new tooth geometry
-
Improved Efficiency of the Automatic Elevator
-
Newly Developed Control Mechanism
-
New Fine-Tuning System
-
New Incabloc shock protection
-
Revised Bridges and Main Board
Particularly interesting: According to Sellita, most of the components were newly developed. Only the date mechanism and the hand-setting mechanism are largely the same as in the previous movement. This shows that this is not merely an update to the SW200-1, but a comprehensive technical advancement.
Why was the work expanded to such an extent?
In recent years, numerous manufacturers have introduced automatic movements with significantly longer power reserves. Sellita is responding to this trend with the SW200-2 Power+, but is taking a different approach than many of its competitors.
Instead of reducing the balance wheel frequency, nearly the entire energy flow within the movement was optimized. As a result, the proven frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 half-oscillations per hour) is maintained, while the power reserve increases to 65 hours.
The result is a modern Swiss automatic movement featuring:
-
longer power reserve
-
greater energy efficiency
-
unchanged height
-
proven durability
-
outstanding customer service
Same dimensions – easy integration
Although the plant has been largely redesigned from a technical standpoint, its external dimensions remain unchanged.
-
Diameter: 26 mm
-
Height: 4.6 mm
As a result, the SW200-2 Power+ can be used as the successor to the SW200-1 without any modifications to the case, dial, or hand train. For manufacturers, this means easy integration into existing designs—while delivering significantly improved performance.
What does this mean for Heinrich Watches?

Conclusion

The extended power reserve of 65 hours is just the most visible improvement. In fact, the movement has been fundamentally redesigned in many areas, from the barrel to the gear train, the regulating mechanism, and the automatic winding mechanism.
For Heinrich Watches, the SW200-2 Power+ is the logical evolution of an already outstanding caliber. That is why it is being used for the first time in the new Helicoprion MKII with a Tigereisen dial, offering our customers even greater comfort, efficiency, and practicality for everyday use.
